Whether the Planet Is Warming Depends on Question Wording,” is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan, who works in the department of Psychology. Konrath is a Research Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social research in the same university. Schwartz is a colleague of Konrath who also works as a Research Professor at the same university. The article belonging to Ring and his co-authors provides the following information about the authors. Ring, Linder, Cross, and Schlesinger represent Climate Research Group from the Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The article written by Worland does not provide any information about qualification of the author. However, it is full of facts supported by evidence, which prove that global warming can become a changing factor of the future generations. Finally, the article written by Gertner informs that the author is a journalist, who dedicated much time to the investigation of global warming and its negative influence. However, the introduction and the body of the article do not pay attention to the qualification of the author.

Worland in his media article uses journals and studies conducted by professors willing to reveal the truth about influence of the global warming. Finally, Gertner explores information collected by other outstanding researchers, including NASA-supported scientists, professors of earth sciences, and various groups of scientists working on the idea of melting icebergs. 

Regarding vested interests which aim to penetrate each article, it is possible to mention the following facts. First, both media articles use emotional character of representing information. The New York Times article pushes to the emotional feeling of guilt and personal irresponsibility, which is the primary source concerning the exploring of global warming resulted by careless attention. Worland’s article encourages to worry about sustainability of the future related to global warming. Schuldt, Konrath, and Schwarz (2011) put an economic meaning of the topic to the discussion. In particular, the article explains the negative influence of global warming on economic perspectives of the planet’s development. Ring and his co-authors use two models for measurement of climatic change without any emphasis on the emotional side of the discussion. The article provides the facts achieved through the application of two models used by authors. In general, it reflects the difference between human perceptions of the problem by means of various media sources. This makes it a mixture of scientific and media approach to the evaluation of the problem of global warming. 

The articles do not have a typical formulation of the information supported by visual elements. Ring and his co-authors use several figures and tables reflecting the analysis of natural transformations and its causes. On the contrary, Schuldt, Konrath, and Schwarz do not use any visual effects in the article. Further, the article published in the New York Times contains many photos of melting icebergs, which stress on the problem of global warming. Photos are relevant to the ideas and opinions supported by Gertner. NASA kindly provided the author with the photos, which helped to accompany the discussion. Worland (2015), in his turn, offers his readers to watch a video concerning the consequences of global warming. It became a serious call to action proving that there is a need to take care of the planet immediately. 

Schuldt, Konrath, and Schwarz attract the readers’ attention to an interchangeable nature of global warming and climate change, which co-exist in the same sphere of transforming the surrounding world. The article proves that the global warming is a serious problem, which can damage the development of the entire world. Further, Ring and his co-authors emphasize the fact that the most recent climatic changes stream from human activity. In particular, the authors focus on the evaluation of transformations starting from the end of the twentieth century. Worland, in his turn, states that the world will suffer from the negative economic consequences if the problem of global warming does not find its effective solution. In less than a hundred of years, it will become more difficult to take care of the surrounding environment and fight against natural global warming resulting in spending significant amounts of money on keeping the world sustainable. Finally, Gertner (2015) reveals the truth about melting icebergs and their role in regulating the world’s temperature, which has a direct connection to human activity. The article has a deep connection to the amount of harmful emissions in the atmosphere brought by vehicles and plants, which cause the melting of ice. 

The articles did not change my personal perception of the topic in general. However, I received enough information to realize the need of paying attention to the environmental problem of global warming. In particular, an article published in the New York Times proves that there are many issues far beyond the routine problems of every individual. Today, there is a need to take care of the surrounding world and start thinking about future generations. I intensified by awareness on climate change and possible negative consequences, which will touch upon every life. It means that it is necessary to contribute to the improvement of the environment in order to create a safe place for the evolution of the future generations. Otherwise, careless attention of the humanity to the world’s common problems will result in the extinction of human race.  

The scientific articles are perfect for the evaluation in terms of the research. However, it would be appropriate to add pictures, schemes, and tables to provide the information in a systematic order. It would improve the overall perception of the author’s idea. In general, scientific articles fully present the strict order of facts and logical flow of information. It is possible to add more discussion to each statistical data and numeric information. In this case, it will become easier to associate numbers with facts thus intensifying an overall understanding of the problem. Further, media sources should have a balanced informational construction in order not to leave the reader with unanswered questions. In addition, media sources should use more sources for proof and respectable information. The readers should assure that the author of the article is aware of the research topic and does not misinform the target audience. 

The main idea, which the public needs to understand, is that each effort taken towards reduction of global warming is priceless. The reduction of harmful emissions in the air can become the first step to overall improvement of the world’s environment, which plays the role of home to millions of living organisms. The contemporary world does not care much about the environment thinking about personal interests and needs. However, every individual should know that taking care of the fragile planet, Earth, is a primary obligation of each person. The future depends on the current activity of people who do not act responsible towards preservation of nature. Humankind should understand that it is the one to blame. It is obvious that people are responsible for the overall revival of nature in order to help it handle the problem of global warming. The main idea everyone should realize is that nature cannot survive without help, as people are responsible for its destruction.  

The main difference between media sources and scientific articles is the language and style of discussion. While scientific journals are formal reports containing the collected information from other sources, media sources have an easier form of discussion. It does not mean that both sources have different significance. It means that scientific articles strive to cover a complex topic by including various references. Media journals are personal investigations of journalists, which have a free way of revealing the material. In general, both sources are accessible for students, professors, pupils, and ordinary readers interested in the researched problem.
